Just wanted to give a shout out to Martin at Protectorust in West Sussex.
If you need to give your bodywork some rust protection I can highly recommend this chap. Based in West Sussex and with a nice barn and car lift.
Took the HR-V there and 6 hours and only £200 later and the car was thoroughly waxoyl'd - every nook and cranny covered.
Some photos in time order:
A relaxed day as Martin got about the business of preserving the HR-V. It was in quite bad shape but he's done a great job.
Granted it's the sort of job you can do yourself, but, he has all the kit and experience and the car lift to ensure he reaches into every cavity.
Highly recommended if you want to treat the Prelude.

I have a question about this...does it not cause an issue when trying to remove bolts later on? Also what about the bits that already have rust on them?

Martin told me that a mechanic might not appreciate the black sticky stuff but bolts etc not a problem.
In terms of pre existing surface rust, a lot was tidied up, but the Waxoyl will stop any further rust and prevent rot developing. Dinitrol is another more expensive product, and Martin had one customer use.
I went to rust.co.uk for the Prelude some years ago, but, it wasn't cheap, (around £600 I think). So Martin's service at Protectorust was great value for some piece of mind.

I'm interested in this... So he removes pre-existing rust (within limits)? Also, do you know if he could apply the Waxoyl but avoid suspension components, i.e. be more targeted?

He got rid of the flaking superficial rust before applying the waxoyl.
Shouldn't be an issue. He'd wrap them up like he did the brake discs etc.
Definitely worthwhile imo and worth dropping him an email. I think he has a reduced price until the end of Jan
