Memorable battles..

I love beating new flash cars in my old cheapo Honda (30-70mph ;) dual carriageway drags, especially) and after reading of @nitin_s1 and the Audi, I thought I'd see if anyone has any similar stories they would like to share?

2002 BMW 330ci - he was driving like an absolute c**t, he overtook me out of nowhere and was then clearly furious as I passed him and he couldn't catch me ..and I mean FURIOUS!!

2006 Scooby WRX STi - tried to overtake me, got half a car length ahead and then he couldn't quite manage any more as I hit 4th gear VTEC yet he still gave me the thumbs-up - well, his passenger did, while hanging right out of the window! Mental!

I don't have any memorable battles unfortunately, just losses! I never seem to be in the right place at the right time unless its with machinery thats much quicker!

One traffic light drag race was up against a modified subaru sti, he stayed right on my bumper in the outside lane up through 2 gears, turns out a few months later after talking to a friend I discovered he was running around 350bhp and purposely sat on my bumper the whole race lol. The other time was with a supercharged mk1 golf, those things are very light. Hopefully now I can report back with some interesting tales!

50mph roll on with a Astra VXR. He was devastated as I passed him at 9k with a little pop as a changed up.

 most of our runs have been on the straight and the lude doesnt stand a chance against your GT4
i rekon it would be more even on the twisty stuff :)
thanks for the shot of your GT4 the other week - even though i didnt get to go above 60mph due to traffic :( i was very surprised how easy the GT4 was to drive and you could feel the power build up from very low revs unlike the lude which youve got to wring its neck to get the best out of it.

I have had a load of battles over the last 12 to 13 years and lost most of them - i always blame the clutch for slipping and @Merlin can confirm this but i hope to be fitting an atr flywheel and clutch to my lude by the end of August so we will see if that makes a difference :)

OMG I hope it makes a difference or this thread is gonna get quickly depressing if everyone keeps writing about losing battles! ..stop chasing Ferrari's.

on the upside i have recently kept up with an M3 on the straight and had a slight edge on an Audi TT (the 3.2 litre one) through the corners :D
and yes near me there are a lot of modified cars evos and scoobys
and aload of M3, M5 , porsches and ferraris - there are two ferraris parked in the next street :x

My lude is a rare car compared to all the above mentioned expensive new/newer cars ;)

however my 4th gen does fare well against 5th gens - thats the most important battle :)
isnt it?
:worms:

XE Corsa against my mates old DC2. Was quite shocked tbh as to how well the wee Corsa comfortably pulled away.

And around Knockhill in the old 310+bhp Pulsar GTi-R against an E46 M3 CSL. Was a nice wee battle over a 20 min session in which the M3 was held at bay.
