looks like the rear quarter only got a light scrape but will still need some paint
good news is the door took the brunt of the hit and the lady has offered to pay for the repair without going through the insurance...im not too sure how to handle this but think that sounds reasonable so im going to get a quote tomorrow.

im no expert but the door looks difficult to repair as it has turned up at the leading edge
i do have a few spare phantom grey doors if the door needs replaced

what do you guys think?

Ah, what a shitter. :(

That'll probably need a new (second hand) door as its probably damaged the impact bar behind, plus the repair time would be pretty big too.

Pretty much the entire side of the car will need paining as well, if she's paying cash it could be a 4 figure sum!

If you though the insurance, they'll write it off, which may or may not work in your favour depending if they let you buy it back for a good sum.

Thats what i thought - the door would be too difficult to repair economically and the body shop will want to paint he whole side of the car.
Im guessing but they are probably going to say approx £1500 - £2000.

If i can get a hold of newkid then i might be able to fit one of the spare doors i have stashed in his shed.........

I have met with the other party and they admit liability but dont want to go through insurance - one bodyshop i went to turned me away and so i decided to ask for £800 to cover the cost of the repair - thats me getting a door in the same colour and swapping over all the gubbins and trim - then getting the door and rear quarter painted. I think that is a fair price. They said they would get back to me later this evening but that £800 sound like a lot of money for the repair....If not then it will have go through the insurance and im sure they will want to write the car off. What do you guys think and any tips on how to handle the insurance side of things.

There no way they'll stump up to fix it, people don't realise the work involved in body repair and think a few hundred quid will fix most things.

You run the risk of them messing you about to the point where it's a bit too late in making a claim on the insurance.

With any insurance claim, don't let them take possession of the car, they always try to do this, it is yours until they pay out, remind them of that.

Good news!
The other party settled without going through the insurance.
Newkid has come up trumps again - we got the spare door out of his shed and it looks good enough to put on the car.
It will take a good few hours tomorrow to swap things over but looking forward to getting it sorted.
Next up is Mot on the 1st of June.
