finally got it on the stand a few days ago

sump off....hmm suspicious

oh hello my fubarred main bearing
Image

this looks to be the cause, a knackered crank seal

damage to the crank

and block started to melt :silent:

other half of the now melted bearing

ah well, these things happen. hence the request for a replacement h22 bottom end, hopefully njord has a good spare i can purchase. i doubt ill find a replacement h23 or f22b crank so ill be going down the stock bottom end and 11:1 pistons i have for now. ill transfer the balance shaft delete over as i can take the girdle with me, plus the oil pump with the blanks and ill just tap a new hole and blank it in the new bottom end for the last BS delete bit.

if i didnt have the gearbox probably costing a fair bit to repair i was considering 11:5:1/11:6:1 pistons but that's not affordable right now.

also need to likely look at doing the ABS delete while the engine is out as that hasnt worked in a while, a smidge weight loss there.

SO!

since the last update i managed to find an F23 bottom end i can use as another Frankenstein build, so 4thGenPhil kindly collected it for me and ive grabbed that from him.

got it home, stripped it down and found the crank is a 55mm main so wont fit in the spare H22a (50mm main) block from njord, but Phil had a spare H22a7 (take 55mm main) in which it would fit, so after arranging a mate who worked nearby to collect this i picked it up from him and i've started to clean this one up instead.

next step is splitting the old h22a pistons & f22 rods plus the f23 pistons & rods from each other, to then mate the f23 rods & h22a pistons together. also, i found that the old block didnt have all of the BS delete kit in place i thought it did, so i sourcing the missing 4x dowels i need for the girdle, before yet again tapping the block to fit the threaded tap in.

HOPEFULLY i may have some progress soon....

oh, and i'm buying a 5g off Sailor - collection next Wednesday. i will hopefully fix this (as its a non runner) and use it as a temp daily instead of the dizeasel

put the bottom end together enough to move the pistons
Image

then plopped on some oily playdoh for claying the top end, just one piston
Image

i did get the head on after this but i was tired by this point, i'll do more soon.
