A bit of a random suggestion about images

Post by rob quilter » Sun May 13, 2012 9:43 pm

Is it possible to tweek the site so you can upload images straight from your hard drive, rather than host them on photo bucket or a similar site? I'm a member of another club, and they have this function, it would make adding pics easier.

I have no idea how difficult this is :?

It's not hard to do, but it does consume a lot of bandwidth - as all the images then come from the LG server. This was why we had to remove the gallery recently

I dislike images hosted by forums as generally you need to be logged in before the image shows and they are only a thumbnail untill clicked. On forums like PreludeZone I dont even bother looking at forum hosted images.

They wouldn't slow the site down, but you do pay for the bandwidth you use - so the more pics etc on the forum, the more the sites running costs are. People using photobucket etc just means we aren't paying for the bandwidth used to show those images 8-)
