spoke to tuners today, here's what they say

So looking to mod my lude in future (and i know i should wait till i get the mods done to talk about it but like others peoples views and opinions before hand) and spoke to about 5 tuners the ones that know what they are talking about the most are hond-r performance in oxford. So my initial mods to start off with was just a full exhaust system thinking it will get me 220 ish bhp. But speaking to tuners they have recommeded me these mods:
- full custom made exhaust including manifold and decat (got a quote today for £1000)
- accord type r throttle body
- accord type r inlet manifold
- accord type r heads and cams ( been quoted 750 fitted)
- some tuners say hondata s300 ecu and some say p28 ecu with hondata or crome (whats the main difference?)

So with all these mods, should i achieve the 240-250 bhp that i want? And is there more that can be done such as bigger fuel pump and injectors?

Please give your thoughts and tell me if theres anything else i should be looking at.

Afaik the accord head and cams are the same

I/h/e is whats recommended as a starting point

Id keep the stock head and put in skunk2 cams tbh

IMO, no ^

IIRC the Skunk2 stuff (stage 1?) is just a rehash of the ATR/TypeS/H22A8 cams, unless you go big = gonna need more money.

ATR head is a definite upgrade over stock.

What you've been told sounds spot on tbh.

Worth having a look at @bennyboy's thread to see what can be achieved relatively easily (tentatively saying that). Then have a look at @Merlin's thread at the big step up you need to get what seems not a great deal more bhp (again tentatively). Am I right in thinking Merlin is pretty much at the ceiling of what you can achieve N/A without spending big big money? Although I wouldn't like to think what Merlin's motor would cost to build.

No offence intended to either builds, of course.

It was ramzan at dr japs and yes he definately does know what hes talking about but he had no clue about the kph to mph chip losing vtec situation lol. So i should leave the head and go for skunk 2 cams? How much can you pick these up for? Ive seen a 74mm throttle body by skunk for 250ish seems like a reasonable price upgrade. Or shall i stick to atr throttle body?

74mm will be far too big  I don't known the correct terminology but you will get some blowby. I think 68mm is pretty much the max on the ATR IM. I would assume the ATR is the same as TypeS/H22A8 at 62mm, compared to stock 60mm.

Don't forget you need to balance all these mods. Buying big stuff just for the sake of it sounding like a mad build will see you with empty pockets and a bunch of parts not fitted.

he knows engines and tuning but things like where to put converter chips is quite specialised and are things that one make forums know better than a general mechanic or tuner

To be fair there already probably isn't much at all between a JDM Prelude and the TypeR lot.

Building something to 250 just to smoke a breadvan at 220 isn't much to brag about :P
