E -manage
E -manage
Has anyone experience or seen others try an e - manage on their 5th gen? The stock map seems pretty rich so I reckon you could take some fuel out in places and maybe play with the spark timing a bit too. I already have a bit of experience as I'm using a standalone megasquirt on my turbo mx5 but for the honda I'm not sure I want to mess about with the obd harness to fit an old but tunable ecu...

Re: E -manage
woops - sorry. I meant to say you can only retard timing on Piggy Backs (Or strap ons as my engineer calls them).
I have a Greddy E-manage blue on my 5th Gen. I got the piggy back when the car was normally aspirated and did exactly what you said and pulled out a little fuel through the map and it made more power on the dyno...201bhp up from 193bhp... which was really cool.
E-mange will adjust Vtec no problem and with the ignition loom can do a fairly good job on mapping on fuel and ignition.
I now run a turbonetic T3/T4 Turbo with big injectors and a 3bar greedy map sensor and the E-manage is coping just fine no problem at all with the map, and set-up is really versatile would recommend it. Currently making about 280Bhp.
The only problem with the Emanage is that is used to be a cheepish option but today with prices from the US really bad, there is a lot of other options.
I hear that the Dastek Unichip are nice and cheep and I think are fairly comparable to the Emanage but I don't have any first had knowlage of the system
