After getting my car back on the road after 2 years I'm experiencing a lot of road noise from what sounds like the rear of the car and it wasn't there before, I've changed tyres, rear wheel bearings, checked bushes and ball joints for play, bolt checked the car along with a number of other checks and tests that can only be described as clutching at straws... I cant find anything wrong.

So anyway I've convinced myself that its the Megan Racing adjustable toe arms with spherical links at both ends that are transmitting the noise, which i ended up putting on a few years ago after one of the original toe arms started knocking. At the time they seemed fine but i think that after sitting for the last 2 years moisture has probably gotten into the joints and rusted them causing the noise, also the rubber boots that supposedly protect them have split and perished.

I wouldn't normally throw money at the car without being sure but im out of options so i went on a search to find new OEM ones, not that long ago they were available on Amayama but now they are coming up as discontinued!

As with a lot of hard to find new parts on these cars i suspected they would be available from the states and after a few hours searching i found suppliers that supposedly had OEM ones but either wouldn't ship internationally or wanted stupid money.

Long story short if like me you're not wanting to risk used ones and don't mind giving some aftermarket ones a bash try Rockauto:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 28&jsn=446

I went for the latter option, just over £100 delivered so fingers crossed they are good!

Will let you know how i get on...

So the toe arms arrived today, gotta love Fedex, i ordered on Sunday and delivery was estimated for Monday next week but they turned up this morning already, 4 days delivery time from the US is pretty amazing :)

They seem pretty decent to me and come with all the hardware you need, including castle nut and split pin, new eccentric bolt and washer, self locking nut, plus a zerk grease fitting with one way valve, and everything is blackened/coated for corrosion protection.

Looking forward to fitting them!

So the toe arms all went in no problems at all, but sadly its not fixed the problem, there was nothing wrong with the megan racing arms, and all of the joints are tight and smooth so they will be up for sale.

Think i will just have to ask Rich at PAW to take a look when i take it in, maybe its front wheel bearings...

you do get a bit of noise from the 5th gen rear suspension especially in colder weather - its normally the top hat bushes and collar in the rear shock absorbers...

Same on mine. Im planning to sound proofing the whole car as a few creeks here and there. Lol. Them new arms are good ive got them installed on my car. Ive replaced all standard bushes with polys. Feels better and sounds alittle better.
