I think this needs to be explored further, mainly due to public liability.4thgenphil wrote:i can see your concerns, these could be welded into to place aswell as an extra precaution, this is what i'll be doing!Gayno wrote:It's the bolt for the upper wishbone isn't it? It has nothing to do with the seatbelt.
You're selling a product that you claim to be a replacement for the standard seatbelt. If someone bolts it to those bolts only, has a crash and it fails, their family members could then try to sue you as liable for their death.
Yes I'm looking worst case here, but it happens.
I would say maybe you need to put a clause on the sale along the old lines of "for show purposes only" - exempting you from any liability should they wish to use it for real.

Its not a single bolt anyway, there are 2 either side, look again and im sure you will seeGayno wrote:Is that single bolt on each side strong enough to withstand the force in a crash without breaking and letting you fly into the windscreen?
if it aint broke don't fix it https://www.facebook.com/pages/tram-roa ... 8502699270

Just what we need for our track BB1. I will then get shot of the rear bootlid hinges/associated bracingtramroadmotors wrote:1. 4thgenphil

^^^^^ and what english phil said
Is there a likely timescale- as I'm on track at Curborough in April and I'd ideally like it fitted beforehand!?

Just to add to what tram road have pointed out
The brace is attached at 4 mounting points on just about the strongest part of the car by the upper wishbone mounts. There mounts are effectively an m12 bolt which is larger and has a tensile strength that exceeds the standard seat belt bolts!
The steel used on this bar was roll cage cds so plenty strong enough
I used harness eye bolts welded to the the bar at the time for ease of harness removal to make it easier loading wheels etc for track days. If I did it again for myself I would leave these and wrap the harness instead purely to save some weight but this would also spread the load more across the bar if the worst should happen.
This bar/brace set up is way safer than mounting eye bolts into the rear floor or for that matter using a Tegiwa harness bar! !
So, what's my percentage cut of this group buy for allowing the use of my pics to sell the item?

And one more thing
As with anything like this harness bar or pretty much most of the upgrades parts people buy, these should/would be sold as "not for highway use".
That is not to say that they are not safe in any way but it is purely due to the fact that these and most upgrade parts have not gone through testing procedures by the necessary "type approval" sanctioning body such as Tuv, jasma, bs etc
