Re: Merlin's Nissan Elgrand
Yeah the car is a bit marmite but it certainly has a presence
At the moment I am sorting all the little things that annoy me. I'm replacing the stereo and that needed a new OEM double din fascia that is being flown from Nissan in JDM land as we speak, a K&N panel filter to give more intake roar, new discs and pads, replacement front balljoints and a set of PowerFlex polybushes for the front lower arms The polybushes reportedly get rid of the shake from the front end.
Loving the van so far, used it at Knockhill last weekend and it swallowed all the gear and still had loads of space for passengers. Its averaging just below 21 mpg at the moment. I only get 23 mpg from the 5th gen Lude.
Wheels are in my plans but a bit further down the list The OEM wheels are not tooo bad, they will do until I get another set.farlow wrote:Very nice mate, looks like a well specced example, when can we expect the new wheels, body kit etc

Crail Raceway
We were up at Crail at the weekend and since my 5th gen is off the road at the moment and I wasn't wanting to risk the race car (or could be bothered towing it up on the trailer) I took the Muscle Bus.
In the wet with a full tank of fuel and a passenger it managed 16.9s. TBH there is no skill in driving it on the strip just like any automatic. But on the strip it had bags of grip and grunt. On the way there was a different story with some of the cruddy Fife roads being very slippy. I was wheel spinning sometimes and had the back end out twice, once fairly severely I am not used to RWD.
